3D-TOPO aims to make cutting-edge research on 3D topological states in solid and soft ferroelectric materials accessible to a broad audience, while delivering tangible societal value through openness, international dialogue, and inclusive research culture.
We invest in people by training a new generation of researchers and research-active staff with interdisciplinary skills bridging physics, chemistry, materials science and engineering. Mobility, mentoring, and hands-on secondments strengthen both scientific excellence and transferable competences (communication, reproducibility, and research integrity).
We follow FAIR data practices and promote reproducible science. Whenever possible, we share:
curated datasets and metadata,
analysis scripts and simulation workflows,
open educational material (figures, short explainers, outreach slides),
via public repositories (e.g., GitHub) and open-access channels in line with Horizon Europe principles.
3D-TOPO contributes to scientific diplomacy by building long-term research links across Europe and beyond. Through joint workshops, public lectures, and cross-border training activities, we foster dialogue around advanced materials, sustainable innovation, and the shared value of open and responsible research.
We are committed to gender balance and equal opportunities in recruitment, training, and project governance. We monitor participation across events and mobility actions, encourage inclusive leadership, and actively support early-career researchers through mentoring and visibility opportunities.
Our engagement actions include:
public talks and science-festival style presentations on “topology in everyday technology”,
short videos and visual explainers for non-specialists,
lab open days/demonstrations
interdisciplinary sessions connecting solid-state ferroelectrics and soft ferroelectric liquid crystals,
educational content for students (BSc/MSc/PhD level) derived from the project’s research outputs
